I am sure your Maui marathon is going to go great! I know I've limped into marathons before on minimal training and have paid the price for it -- usually a yucky experience and a time I am less than thrilled with.

My best marathon times have come when I've put in 70+ mile weeks somewhat consistently.

Not everyone can run this much mileage however. And running 70+ miles a week doesn't guarantee a Boston qualifier. I think you have to have some basic talent for speed as well.

I think you've made some excellent points in your blog post though and I am a believer that when it comes to the marathon (and beyond) more mileage generally equates to a better race day experience.

Here is another article for reference as well: http://www.runnersworld.com/run-the-numbers/runners-with-more-training-miles-finish-marathons-fasterEddie Gaulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18151446665700309292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1963402677916553399.post-78147133481500941672015-08-30T21:26:33.079-05:002015-08-30T21:26:33.079-05:00Wow- great job! (270) I think we just have to find what works best for us and go with it. Obviously this mileage is working for you. You'll be ready for Maui!!Tiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17865099182609959790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1963402677916553399.post-69649894710890204822015-08-30T16:03:12.179-05:002015-08-30T16:03:12.179-05:00I've always been impressed with how much your ...I've always been impressed with how much your body can cope with and keep bouncing back. For me it's usually general fatigue that stops me from doing more. My body just gets worn down without enough recovery time. I can not even fathom how it must feel to run almost 400 miles in a month and do strength workouts on top of that. Charhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13819714901550763235noreply@blogger.com
