Woke up this morning to about 2" of snow already on the ground and heavy snow falling.
WAHHHOOOOO!!!
Snow-run!!!
Yessssssss!!!
Super!!!
Cold ... but OKAAAAY!!!
Let's roll slide!!!
Running in the snow takes a lot more energy and works a few different muscles, and honestly I wasn't planning on working out this hard this morning. But hey, as the old saying goes, "When life gives you snow, make lemonade." Also I love winter runs like this, 'cause as a guy I can stop and write my pace in the snow. (only kidding mom)
Snow falling at 5:30AM |
Footing was a little sketchy at times, especially going up hill. Also, I missed a snow covered street curb and almost fell down. But, I didn't see any mountain lions - which is great!
Also, for some reason, even though the wind was blowing almost exclusively from the East, it seemed like every direction I turned, snow was blasting me in the face. Weird! This wasn't the light, pretty, peaceful, snow flurries I ran in on Saturday. This was more of a snow shower with small stinging flakes.
I'll definitely take it REALLY easy tomorrow. Today's time wasn't anything to write home about, but it definitely gave me a good workout. I'll be a little stiff with lactic acid building later. Hopefully, I can get a light workout in this evening with about 30 minutes of walking to cool down. I'll stretch throughout the day too.
Nothing like running in the snow! And there's a reason the Inuit have 1000 words to describe it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I will be running today from the warmth of our home :)
ReplyDeleteGreat run!
ReplyDeleteI really hate snow, but will admit that I don't mind running in it. There's something a bit peaceful about it, and it does give your body a bit more challenge. Great work.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love getting out in the snow! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I was looking around and I see you ran Grandma's! It is on my list.
ReplyDeleteSuzy, I just wrote my Grandma's review today actually - It wasn't my favorite, but I had a lot of other things going on. Good luck with it and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's 5:30 a.m. and you are running in the snow. Wow.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Jim, that is the Pacific Ocean I run next to. And, it's 84 degrees all year long.
I love snow runs. Not so fond of ice runs and that looks like what I'll have tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Detroit Runner.
