Endurance Trail Running Series Expands to the Road for 2011
As The North Face Endurance Challenge enters its fifth year, the event series will feature a new twist for 2011 with the first ever Endurance Challenge road event. The inaugural road event will take place in Kansas City, MO, August 27-28, 2011.
For the past four years, The North Face Endurance Challenge has offered a unique running experience that has allowed people to push and exceed their personal limits on the trail. For the first time, The North Face is pushing this experience beyond the trail, with a road event that will allow those dedicated road runners the same quality event experience.
The Kansas City event starts and finishes in the beautiful 13.81-acre Frank A. Theis Park in downtown Kansas City, along Brush Creek and just a few blocks from The North Face store in Country Club Plaza.
Following a two-day format similar to other Endurance Challenge events, the road event will feature a Marathon, Marathon Relay and 50K distances on Saturday, and a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon distances on Sunday. Parents can also bring their kids for the daily 1K Karno Kid’s Races, led by internationally recognized ultra runner Dean Karnazes.
The Kansas City, MO road event will not be offering a 50 Mile distance component this year. If you have interest in running a 50 Mile distance in a future road event please let us know by emailing us atendurancechallenge@hawkeyeww.com.

I've wanted to do the NorthFace Challenge in San Fran for awhile...the dang thing falls on my husband's bday every year. Gotta get him running so he'll want to do it too! :)

ReplyDeleteNow that is some cool events and of course you'll be there!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great race!
ReplyDeleteCool event, thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteAre you doing this? I looked into it, but an ultra on roads sounds MISERABLE. Wish they had done it on trails like some of the others just because we have amazing trail systems around here shame not to use them!
