I've never done Yassos, but here's my take on speedwork in general.
During speedwork, you are training your body to respond under duress, increasing your lactaid threshold, improving your VO2 max, etc. So while you're right that you're probably not going to do intervals during a marathon, you are going to be uncomfortable at times. That's when you dig in and remember the discomfort on the track and know you can get through it.
Nice workout. Yasso 800s aren't easy. I like all the detail you keep track of from your runs.
I guess I missed the post about you being injured. Hamstring? Looks like it's already better. I'm just now coming back from a hip flexor strain that had me down and out for about a month.
BTW, I saw all the photos of you guys in Orlando. Looks like a good time. My family will be headed down there the last week of May.
Great job on the workout Jim!

ReplyDeleteKeep persisting with your new style, Jim. Those legs will catch up to where you want to be before too long.
ReplyDeleteSounded like a GREAT workout!!! But I agree with Rachelle...I have definately "thrown up" at times running 800's...UGH!
ReplyDeleteDo you EVER had a bad day???
