Clean Summer

After close to a month off from anything exercise related, today will be the jump-start I need for a strong, healthy, and happy summer!  In about 3 hours, Michael I will be running the 40th Annual Hospital Hill Half-Marathon.  It probably won't be as fast as usual, but it will be a great kick-in-the-pants to get me back in line with where I need to be.

After the race, my diet will be the first target of a healthy summer.  I really don't enjoy eating clean, but I feel and perform so much better when I do.  The second will be to resume regular strength training.  And finally, the running will once again be first and foremost.   It's time ... here we go!
... be great today!

  1. Your self control amazes me. I'd like to eat clean, too, but I have Ben and Jerry's in the freezer and just polished off a large mint julep last night. The funny thing is that most of my diet is quite clean - almost entirely lean protein, whole grains, and tons of fresh fruits and veggies - but once I start snacking it's dark chocolate caramels, cherries in flamed brandy sauce, habenero cheddar, Malbec - basically all forms of fat, alcohol, and sugar on my plate :)
Maybe if you start posting diet details you'll inspire me. But I doubt I'll change my ways.

  3. I LOVE this time of year. This week has been filled with making a final decision on a fall marathon (Huntsville, Utah - Sept). Thinking about my run plan, getting serious about returning to "race weight". I'm totally excited !

run, weights, supreme90day, yoga, bike a little, diet right - I'm ready !

  4. I'm trying to eat better as well - and I noticed that today, after 12 days, it is finally starting to get easier. Good Luck!
