Passed 1K Today

What does this picture of my granddaughter, Savannah, have to do with me running my 1,000th mile of the year this morning?  Absolutely nothing.  But she's adorable.  And she's my little sweetie.  So deal with it.

Actually yesterday I ended on 999 exactly.  So today's 12 mile slow run put me well over the 1K mark for the year.  And it wasn't easy.  I'm in Wichita, KS for an architectural presentation, and it was 74 degrees, with 90% humidity.  That's a Summer Workout Index (SWI) of 164.  Sweaty.

I know for some of you, 1,000 miles at this point in the year is a lot.  But I've actually lightened up quite a bit on the volume of miles, and will probably end up with less than last year.  You'll recall a few years ago I had back-to-back 3,000 mile years.  Why?  Good question.  Just to prove to myself I could do I suppose.  But I think 3,000 was a little too much for me.  Now I'm running only 5 days per week, and will probably end up with less than 2,500 - which is fine with me since my legs feel so much fresher later in the year for Fall races.

So  anyway, not a major accomplishment, other than checking another thousand  miles on the body's odometer.  And to this point, I'm still running strong, with no complaints.  Hope your training is going well too!
... be great today!

  1. Keep telling me about your 90% humidity. It makes it so much easier to enjoy getting up in the dark and the cool to run.

  4. Super impressive to me! I have like 1400 bike miles this year, so I can't even imagine logging as many run miles as you do.

I love those baby pictures. I'm unbiased, and I think she's absolutely beautiful.
