There was a late surge in voting for the running wiener (my personal fav), but in the end, I combined a few different ideas and this was the final design. Plus, after some additional consideration, perv's might take a sticker featuring a wiener the wrong way! Where has our innocence gone people???
Be Great Today!
Here is the brief story behind "Be Great Today!"...
I was in a huge training & racing rut after Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN last year. My race times just weren't where I wanted them to be. And at the same time, there was someone very close to me struggling with things in their personal life. I had dinner with this person and as I began to think about something inspirational I could say to them, I thought "find you personal greatness", "be as great as you can be", "BE GREAT TODAY!". Even though the phrase instantly became my personal training and racing mantra, it began to work its way into my daily life as well. I've always been a little bit of an obsessive perfectionist, but it was kinda cool to have a "go to" reminder when things got tough. I now think about it all the time.
I really believe that everyone has personal greatness inside of them. And it comes in many different shapes and sizes. It doesn't have to be a BQ in a race, or a 100 mile run ... it may be walking a 5K, losing 2 pounds, or something as simple as spending time with your children, or helping someone less fortunate than you. It may seem small to you ... but it could be the world to someone else.
I've received SO MANY kind words, comments, and emails about the phrase. Thank you ... that's so awesome! I know it's not ground breaking or anything, but maybe it's a little reminder that will push you to new heights you never thought you would achieve, or maybe get you over the hump when you need a little inspiration!
To get yours ...
I have several of these, so if you would like one just send me your shipping address and I'll mail it right away. (sorry if asking for your address is a little "cyber-creepy" ... but not everyone has teleportation yet) Email me at ... running50after40@yahoo.com
They are obviously FREE to men, women, and children ... but as a small favor in return I
1. List me in your blog roll
2. Post a pic of the sticker when you get it
(But NO PRESSURE!!! I mean, if you're gonna accept a FREE sticker from someone, I could totally understand why you wouldn't do that.) Hope you enjoy 'em! And as always ...
...be great today!
That's an awful lot of things to do to get a free sticker. But I guess now that you're cool you feel you've got the power over us. :)
