CUPCAKE Marathon ... First Leg

I haven't been a very reciprocative blogger lately.  I've just been very busy and haven't had the chance to comment on blogs like usual.  Hopefully I'll get caught up this week.  There was a great response to the "Be Great Today" sticker ... everyone's stickers are on the way!  (If  you didn't have a chance to get one, email me your address and I'll get one right out to you!)  Thank you for reading 50 after 40, and all the kind words, comments, and support everyone continues to offer ... its really means the world to me!
I ran the first 22 miles of the Cupcake Marathon this weekend sponsored by Jason at http://www.cooktraineatrace.com/ and Christel at (Silly Girl Running).  I will complete the remaining 4.2 later this week.  Here are a few photos from the event!
The day started with awesome 60 degree weather, and a Cupcake as a prerace meal!  (Yes, I really ate it before I ran! And yes, I really stand on my front porch and enjoy cupcakes with my eyes closed on a regular basis!)  Nothing like cream cheese and red velvet cake to get you going!  It was mostly sunny, but REALLY windy - about 20 mph out of the south, so kind of a struggle when you were headed that direction.  Here are the basic stats and my Garmin photo.  I'll complete the Cupcake Marathon spreadsheet later to make it "official".

            Course:  Lees Summit, MO Loop
                Miles:  22
                Time:  2:51:53
        Avg Pace:  7:49/mile
            Avg HR:  160
                Temp:  60 Degrees, Humidity 75%, Wind 20SW

I love doing virtual races, it makes a lonely 22 mile run seem like you're part of something bigger.  Congrats to everyone who ran part or all of their marathon this weekend!  Hopefully I'll win SOME MORE CUPCAKES!!!  (Ya know when you think about it, cupcakes are just like a real cake ... only smaller and wrapped in paper!)

... be great today!

  5. I tried to enter the cupcake marathon but was too late. Maybe next year! Good job on getting the bulk of it done. My marathon would have been assembled from a bunch of shorter ones...Maybe I'll eat a cupcake anyway....

  6. Nice job buddy. And I love that you consumed a cupcake before your run. That is total Bad A....I would have paid for that cupcake around Mile 8 with a pit-stop....

  20. Hey... You really ARE my hero. And not because you ate a cupcake before running- anyone can do that (lol)- because you are MY FAVORITE DAD. =)
Also... You are a genius with the cupcake being a small cake in a little wrapper... Never thought of it that way. ;)
