Trail Running With Mrs. Weatherly

I am so fortunate to have a wife that loves to run!  Not only that, but I've also been fortunate to run a half-marathon with my daughter and a 5K with my son.  It's so cool to share one of the main things I enjoy doing with my family.  And Saturday was the perfect day for that!

Like a lot of the fly-over states, it's been unseasonably warm this week in Missouri ... which I will never complain about because we all know winter sucks!  So I looked forward to getting my first of two long runs in this weekend on Saturday with temps in the 50's!!!  I headed out to my trail running location and started going to work on 23 slow miles.  I really don't enjoy running slower than my normal pace all the time, but I'm training for a marathon in Arizona in a month, a 6 hour race in Oklahoma in two months, and a 40 miler in Kansas (which might turn into a 60 miler) in three months.  So it serves me much better to spend more extended, all be it much slower, time on my feet during my training sessions.

I hammered out the first 2 of a 4 hour trail run, when who do I see driving down the lane ... my lovely wife, Michael!!!  Actually I knew she was joining me, but it was great to see her.  We ran the third hour together on the trails around Lake Jacomo and it was awesome spending time with her out there.  But I gotta tell ya, being all alone on those hidden trails with a sexy gal made my mind wander a little.  Ya know ... me & the Mrs!  Just chillin'!  Doing what married folks do! But there are several public decency laws that made us just keep running.  (Insert Price Is Right failure sounder like when you overbid) But, ya know what I'm sayin' ... right ... right!  Okay.

Anyway, it was a nice break from the regular long run and hopefully we can run together a little more as we are both training for basically the same upcoming events.  Hope your weekend workouts went well too!
... be great today!
(PS, Michael will undoubtedly respond to the previous with something like ... "You're an idiot!" ...or, "Keep dreamin' buddy")

  1. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more.
I'm glad it's not just my husband who likes to get 'back to nature.' I just didn't know it was possible after 2 hours of running.
