Fargo Marathon ... I'm In!!!

Random ...
Some girl named Ke$ha has a song on the radio with the line, "We're dancin' like we're dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb dumb!"  You ARE dumb!  You spell your name with a dollar sign.  That's only cool if you're Neon Deion $ander$ baby!
Not cool!                                         The Coolest!
Fargo ...
Anyways, I got registered, and my hotel reserved for the Fargo Marathon on May 21st.  I'm always relieved when that part is over.  Being a travel agent is not my strong point.  My wife, Michael, is a HUGE help in this area (thanks sweetie!)  I'm not sure what to wear to the hotel though ... I think it's really fancy.  For $49 a night it better be!  But sometimes ya gotta just let go and live a little!
Red River Lodge - Fargo, ND
Michael will  never travel with me when I stay at a "local landmark".  I love 'em!  Sometimes the sheets are clean, and there's a good chance the lady at the front desk will have a baby on her hip.  Plus, if you're not a smoker, you might be when you leave ... bonus! (Actually I'm just glad not to be sleeping in my car, and I'm sure the people will be very nice and hospitable ... so I'll shut up now!)
I spent some time looking Michael looked online for a coupon code for this marathon, but all we she could find were discounts for last year, so we paid full price. I think it was $75.  Based on the website, it looks like a really fun race.  Music at every mile and a post race concert by some group called "Hariball".  That's gotta rock, right?  Plus, the course is flat, flat, flat!  I have it targeted for a PR this Spring - hopefully around 3:10 to 3:15!

I've never been north of Minneapolis, and seeing a new area is always awesome!  I think North Dakota is the Grand Canyon State, so that will be cool.  I'll make the 10 hour trip to Fargo by car.  Boring to most, I know, but I love to drive.  I talked to a couple of folks at my gym last week who used to live in Fargo and they said the race can be a little windy, but it's a great race.  I can't wait!  If I don't break my leg between now and then, it should be my 3rd marathon in 2011, and 11th overall.

I would love to hear from folks who have ran Fargo before.  Is this a good race?  I hope so!  (Sorry the post was so snarky & David Spade-ish ... just kidding Fargo!)
Be Great Today!

  2. I've not run the marathon, but I did my first year of college there. Very flat = VERY windy. Here's hoping that race day is a calm one!

  3. Yay, I'll see you there! My sister ran Fargo in 2009, which was a year they had a lot of flooding. So the course was changed and they did four loops of the same 6ish miles. I spectated and even though it was very cold and rainy, there were tons of spectators out and it looked like a great race.

  5. You paid more for the marathon registration than the hotel. You are hard core. Simply awesome. :o)

  6. Never done Fargo, but I'm sure you'll rock it.

And I am *so* with you on the Kesha thing. I kind of want to kick her every time I hear her song on the radio.

  9. You're a dork.
And I hate Kesha too (I refuse to spell her name with a dollar sign. Her birth certificate doesn't say 'K$sha,' so I refuse to give her the satisfaction of knowing people give her that attention).

  10. Love the random thought...hilarious.

I always find it interesting that when it comes to racecations we don't care where we sleep as we are there to do a job. Nothing more and nothing less. Just let me sleep soundly so I can kick the courses a$s (my ode to Keisha).....
