"Fatigue Makes Cowards Of Us All"

In watching my Mizzou Tigers bow out of the NCAA Tourney last night, I heard one of the announcers quote long time Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson ...

"Fatigue makes cowards of us all"

Vince Lombardi was actually the originator of this great line.  And although I was disappointed (but not surprised) with Mizzou's performance, I loved hearing this quote again.  It reminded me why as runners we do what we do daily!  All the miles.  All the training.  It's for that one moment in a race when you have to ask yourself if the pain and fatigue will win, or if you'll face the challenge and overcome!
... be great today!

  1. What a great line. I don't think I have ever heard that but if I have thanks for the reminder. great today!

And vegetarian. Check out my FB page for what I made for breakfast this morning. Right up your alley:

  2. Really great! You are so right. It is at that moment that all the long hours on the road becomes worth it. That's when you can continue while others cannot.

  3. LOL, Jason will tell you to run (literally) and get temphah and honey milk. At least thats what he told me

    I love the quote.

Ya, my bracket is completely destroyed now after day 1

  4. i will have to remember this quote next sunday at my first tri. i think i will write it on my forearm!

  5. I had Mizzou... thought they might make a run...

  6. Be Great Today, Jim!
    I know you will be!!!

    I will be, too :D
    Thanks for the reminder!

  7. I actually picked Missouri, I thought Cincinnati was weak and that the Tigers would pull the upset!

  8. Love that quote! Sorry but I have no idea who the Tigers are...oops!

  9. Great quote from the creator of "40 minutes of Hell"

  10. Sorry about Mizzou. At least someone is happy in your household.

BTW, I took a 90 day leadership class and the mantra for the class was, "Accept your greatness". Cool, eh?
