Before the run we collected donations for the victims of Monday's events. They also mentioned that yesterday at the Garmin Marathon in Olathe, KS, they raised about $2,500, which was awesome!
This week we met at Lucy Active Wear, in Town Center Plaza. The organizers asked everyone to wear Boston Marathon colors, which we did. They also handed out miniature racing bibs that read "We are all Boston Marathoners at heart", which Michael and proudly displayed.
It will obviously be a while before the victims of this tragedy are recovered in their own way. But hopefully some of the money we raised, and from other events like this one, will help in some small way. Have a great week!

This seems to be a common theme in a lot of posts - a tribute run for Boston. I think it's lovely how the running community is getting behind the victims and the city and letting them know how much they're cared about.

ReplyDeleteWe had a local run here on Saturday as well! Hope they raise tons of money to pay these friends medical bills and then some. Did you see where Bradley Cooper went and visited that guy Jeff who had both legs blown off? It was good to see him smile.

ReplyDeleteWe are doing a similar run in Utah today. They organized it thinking it would be "small" and now have over 2,000 runners registered. So awesome to see so many people pulling together. I love it!
Overland Park! Cool, I use to live a few blocks from JCCC. I miss the blocks and runner friendly sidewalks. They have a lot of trails too. Sorry, that was a bit off tangent. That is great what you and runners are doing in support of those deeply affected by this tragic event. My heart cries out for that. We as runners really know how to reach out through the endeavors that we pursue. Take care and Congratulations again on that awesome Half Marathon Race!
