"No Run" Day ... But No Off Day

I typically don't run on Monday's or Friday's

I used to run six days per week, but added an extra rest day a couple of years ago and really felt much better, as far as leg health goes

Even though I don't run on those days, I still try to get in a pretty good core and upper body workout

Here's what happened on Monday ...

  • 100 Ups
  • weighted side bends
  • 2 x 30 banded oblique twists
  • 3 x 30 stability ball crunch
  • 3 x 30 stability ball back extension
  • 2 x 10 ab wheel
  • 2 x 1:05 plank ... front, back, & sides
  • 2 x 1:05 hip bridge
  • 4 x 25 push ups
  • 2 x 12 incline bench press
  • 2 x 15 TRX back flies
  • 2 x 8 pull ups
  • 3 x 20 banded deltoid flies
  • 2 x 40 neck raise
Pull ups are pretty weak right now, but they've never been a strong point for me ... hopefully I'll change that this cycle

Music today ...
Out on bail fresh outta jail, California dreamin'
Soon as I stepped on the scene, I'm hearin hoochies screamin'
"California Love" - 2Pac/Dr. Dre

Pretty decent workout, but nowhere near where it needs to be ... work in progress!

  1. Looks like a solid workout regime. I used to lift a bit but now I focus on running. If the winter gets bad I'll join a gym but for now the bike trail is my gym.

Not a fan of weighted side bends. I remember Arnold Schwarzenegger saying it made your obliques bigger not stronger.

I used to run five days a week but now I am 6 or 7. Jury is still out as to whether it is helping.

  2. That is certainly no rest day! I try to do upper body and core 4 times per week but my routines are not even a patch to your's. Even a small workout still makes me feel better for the day than nothing at all. That just sucks.
